Privacy Notice

This notice explains how Peter Coss handles personal data in connection with spirometry.ie and general enquiries sent through the contact details on this site. I am the data controller for that processing and can be contacted at peter@spirometry.ie.
Information collected when you visit
This is a simple information website. It has no online forms, user accounts or payment facilities and does not use analytics, advertising trackers or optional cookies.
The hosting provider may process limited technical information, such as your IP address, browser or device information, pages requested and access times, in server logs used for security, availability and troubleshooting. I do not use those logs to identify or profile visitors. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in operating a secure and reliable website. Logs are retained in accordance with the host’s operational and security settings.
When you contact me
If you send an email, I receive the information you choose to provide, normally including your name, email address and message. I use it to respond, discuss requirements and, where relevant, take steps towards a professional engagement.
Where an enquiry concerns a possible engagement, the legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. For other professional enquiries, the legal basis is my legitimate interest in receiving and responding to relevant communications.
Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are normally deleted within 12 months. Records connected with commissioned work may be retained for longer where necessary for contractual, tax, insurance, professional or legal purposes.
Clinical information
If clinical information is received unexpectedly, access will be limited and appropriate steps will be taken to secure or delete it, subject to any legal or professional requirement to retain it.
Where clinical information is processed as part of an agreed service, the secure transfer method, roles and responsibilities, retention arrangements and applicable terms governing data processing will be agreed with the commissioning organisation in advance. That processing is governed by the relevant service agreement rather than this general website notice alone.
Sharing and service providers
I do not sell personal data or share it for advertising or unrelated marketing. Information may be processed by providers used for website hosting and email. It may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to professional advisers, insurers or public authorities, or where required by law.
Some providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, the transfer will be based on an adequacy decision or other safeguards recognised under data protection law. Further information about relevant providers and safeguards is available on request.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access your personal data, correct inaccurate information, request erasure or restriction, object to certain processing and receive certain information in a portable format. These rights are subject to the conditions and limitations in data protection law.

Complaints
You may raise a concern with Ireland’s supervisory authority, the Data Protection Commission. I would also welcome the opportunity to address any concern directly.
